2018:08 Incremental Motion of Recovery
The gears of a clock turn a bit it at a time, moving the second hand that moves the minute hand that moves the hour hand that moves the day forward into weeks, months, years, centuries ad nauseum…
Here I am in financial recovery. It is very slow. I have been in it for some time and expect to be in it for some time ahead. Last summer I accomplished fixing leaks, repairing a shower, replacing a deck and a lot of yard pruning. There is a lot more to do.
This week the 24 year old water heater sprung a leak in the supply hose. For $20 I was able to repair it myself with a little Teflon tape and a new hose. While I was at it, I got quotes from plumbers, looked at water heaters and had the gas company come inspect to make sure we are OK for now. I’m ready now when it bites the dust. It will be expensive, but I won’t have to be at the mercy of having to take something that I wouldn’t normally purchase.
Also hopped off to the Sears Outlet store and bought a new refrigerator. The last time I purchased one was 27 years ago, it was time. The new one will be pretty and hopefully cost less to run. The big project is the backyard that is amok with blackberry vines that have covered beautiful landscaping. Likely that there is little to salvage of that, but to just have no sticker bushes would be a welcome change.
I will win. It will take longer than I want, but I will win. In the meantime, I am happy. Happy to have a lovely home to enjoy, that has room enough for company and visitors. More than that, I have peace, hope and joy and a smile toward the future, even if the progress is slow.
Hopeful today,
Kiki
