2020.10 Pandora’s Box #2
“If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.” Mark 3:25
As 1000’s of people take to the streets to peacefully protest the apparent death of one George Floyd, a no name one day and a household name the next I see the emotional climate morphing significantly. OK, you caught that I said “apparent death”. Yep, that’s what I said. Not everyone believes the fancy gold closed coffin purchased after a gofundme of vast amounts of funds actually held GF or anyone at all.
Yes, the question remains, who or what was in GF’s casket? Why was he whisked away so quickly in the ambulance? No vitals? No CPR? No careful tending to him before moving him? Why were there two similar events that same week in two other countries? The police officer and his victim knew each other and in fact appear to both be Freemasons and to have worked together in security for some 17 years at the same club, Was this personal? Why have four cops and a scene over a counterfeit $20 bill?
Then there is the aftermath where unsavory types join the throng of peaceful protesters – looting and destroying businesses – many in the Black community and neighborhoods. Is this how any regular hard working American citizen would want their death memorialized? What about the two Black police officers killed because of the riots that have grown out of this?
Lastly, to further illustrate a previous point – what happened to “stay safe, stay home?” No gathering for NBA or World Series, no graduations, funerals, weddings, no concerts, religious services, no meet-ups, hikes or community gatherings. In fact the compliant group is still at home washing everything, conscientiously wearing masks, watching news and living in fear of a virus that might reach out and kill them dead on the sidewalk if they dare to go our without a mask on. I see them on the walking path or driving in their cars. Isolated. Fearful. and now we have the angry. Isn’t this the makings of a perfect storm? A crisis of the ages.
The Covert virus apparently isn’t going to bother protesters or rioters and they are all wearing masks now so that much easier not to identify the troublemakers. But what if the virus is just yesterday’s news? What if the numbers are skewed – bigly? What if it is just Pandora’s Box #1? It’s really over but many people haven’t yet gotten the memo. Personally I’ve opted out. I only wear a mask when I absolutely have to or when I am around older people who feel it is important. My life has continued as normal and I’m fed up with the Karen’s who think they need to make sure everyone is social distancing and wearing a mask – that actually does no good. And yes, I feel angry. I’m angry that no one asks questions and that those of us who do are sometimes given the cold shoulder or the condescending look or even a lecture about the importance of blah blah blah. I’m angry that we’ve all been duped by the media and that money and Hollywood create elaborate facades, bad actors out of every day people and you can’t tell which end is up. At night, aren’t all cats grey?
It’s all mad and maddening! They want us divided, not trusting our neighbors or friends and folks, I’m not down for that. Another Pandora Box is likely just around the corner. They tried spicing up the pandemic with food shortages and contamination and I see that story still cropping up here and there and then there were the Murder Hornets that we are supposed to just run away from. Didn’t your mother teach you not to run away from bees? (Forehead slap and a groan) When did we move from We the People to we the sheeple? Or maybe it’s just we the sleeple. Do we have to agree on everything to be united? Is the unity of our diverse selves scarier than the plagues that are currently being pitched our way at 100 mph? What does it look like to be united against a common enemy of those who want to destroy our work, livelyhoods, individuality, and limit our humanity?
Praying for wisdom for all of us cause this is a really hard question to answer and a harder one it seems to put into action.
praying for all of US and the world today,
Kiki
This is a little cheesy, but it feels good and we need to feel good and be united right now. If we can get through this, “the best is yet to come!”
